Volunteers

We welcome volunteers of all ages, abilities and promote equal opportunities. If you’re able to give us some time whether it be a regular commitment or more 'ad hoc' we would be love to have you on board.

We are able to offer volunteering opportunities in retail through the CHAT Community Shop (either shop front or behind the scenes sorting donations), administration through our offices at CHATLINK Information Centre and community based through our many support groups and other activities.

CHAT is a registered charity with 30 years’ experience working for the benefit of the people in the Rame Peninsula.  All our profits are reinvested back into the community to promote health in its widest sense.  If you can help please complete the application form, submission to Rebecca Lingard and once references are checked we can then make sure you’re covered under our insurance. Thank you.

Grants

A grant of up to £300 is available to groups, organisations based in the Rame Peninsula for a specific project.  An ability to show some fundraising efforts from yourself would be advantageous.

A grant of up to £300 is also available to individuals living in the Rame Peninsula who need help during a difficult period in their live. You will be required to give some personal details which will be needed to ascertain the level of need.

An application form can be downloaded from this website or collected from the CHATLINK offices.  The decision made by the Trustees is final.

Meetings

CHAT public meetings are usually held monthly at the Old School House on the first Thursday of the month at 10.00 am. We also hold our regular Trustee meetings on the same morning, culminating in our Annual General Meeting which is usually held in July.

All are welcome to attend and you will be assured of a warm reception.

Networking

Communication skills stand at the forefront of CHAT’s aims especially in all aspects of healthy living.  Our network links are local, county wide and further afield. An early initiative was the Liaison Lunch, enabling both statutory and voluntary agencies to network over a simple meal.  With topics covering a wide spectrum the group proved to be an invaluable source for information sharing.  This project has been reinvented over the years to move with the times.

Locally we are members of the Torpoint Town Partnership, Sports Network, Rame Peninsula Transport Users group, Torpoint Action Group, Patient Participation Group, Transformation Cornwall, Cornwall Gateway Community Response Hub, Rame Fund, Cornwall Health Promotion, Torpoint Team Project Board Meeting and Healthcare Conference.

We are happy to be involved with any group which would benefit the Rame peninsula community.
